While the Silver State has natural wonders and fun-filled cities like Reno, Las Vegas, and more, it is not without dangers. Below are several roads that pose a risk to your safety if you live in or are visiting Nevada.
Dangerous Roads
There are many reasons why roads are dangerous and see a high number of crashes that result in injuries or death. Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, failure to wear a seatbelt, and distracted driving are just three of the many causes of car accidents across the country. Interstate 15

While tired or distracted drivers are likely an issue on this road, there are often drivers on the Vegas Strip who came to the area to party and are driving while intoxicated.
Highway 50
Another stretch of dangerous highway in the state of Nevada is the Highway 50. Commonly referred to as the “Loneliest Road in America,” this piece of road has minimal services available along its lengthy path. In other words, if you plan to travel on Highway 50, make sure you take extra precautions and are prepared for emergencies, including having a full tank of gas and provisions such as water, non-perishable food, and a blanket, and enjoy the drive.
Nevada Intersections
Beyond major roads and highways, Nevada is also home to some of the most dangerous intersections in the nation. Not surprisingly, several of these dangerous intersections are in the city of Las Vegas. According to the Las Vegas Metro Police (LVMP) the intersections where people are at the highest risk of injury or accident include:
- Charleston Boulevard and Lamb Boulevard;
- Tropicana Avenue and Decatur Boulevard;
- Tropicana Avenue and Pecos Road;
- Tropicana Avenue and Rainbow Boulevard; and
- Sahara Avenue and Rainbow Boulevard.
