Update Your Will
Each and every year you should review your will and make any necessary changes. It’s your responsibility to add or remove people to your will. Important factors to consider: did you get married or divorced? Did you have children or adopt? Are your children no longer minors? Is your power of attorney still willing and able to do so?

Computer Security
Viruses, malware, phishing attacks. Those are all real threats these days so be sure your computer security software is up-to-date. This is especially important this time of year when shopping online is more common. Be protective of your online usernames and passwords, once online criminals have your personal information it’s too late.
Credit Reports
Speaking of identity theft, have you taken a look at your credit report recently? No amount of legal advice can improve your credit score so be in the know. Review it carefully and report any errors or disputes at least once a year, it’s free after all!
Get a Checkup
Have you seen the doctor for your annual visit? If not, make that appointment and while you’re at it, get the latest copy of your medical records. This could come in handy when updating or creating your living will.
Know Your Expiration Dates
Driver’s license, business license, permits, leases. All have expiration dates. Do you know when you’re due to renew any of those documents/agreements? Under no circumstance do you ever want to operate your business or practice with an expired license. This could lead to fines or even being barred from practicing.
It’s also a good idea to call your landlord to see if there will be a rent increase in the next lease term and try to negotiate now rather than later. It’s always better than to be proactive in these types of situations. If leasing a vehicle, pay close attention to any mileage limits given. The end of the year could be a good time to negotiate more or even get an early trade-in.
Get Ready for Uncle Sam
Yeah, the end of the year means another check in with the good old IRS. Get ahead of the game and beat procrastination by gathering receipts and documents in December.
