Chances are you’re not done holiday shopping. And because no one has “trip to the Emergency room” on their list, we’re here to help you avoid some of the most dangerous toys this gift-giving season. (A Las Vegas personal injury lawyer’s first job is to try and prevent the injures instead of address them.)
The nonprofit organization World Against Toys Causing Harm (WATCH) estimates that a child is treated every three minutes for a toy related injury, so it’s a pretty common problem. The organization nominates their ten worst toys each year, with the hopes of making shoppers more aware of the different types of toy hazards available out there.
- Nerf Rival Apollo XV-700 Blaster
- Peppa Pig’s Muddy Puddles Family
- Banzai Bump N’ Bounce Body Bumpers
- Warcraft Doomhammer
- Baby Magic Feed and Play Baby
- Flying Heroes Superman Launcher
- Peppy Pups
- The Good Dinosaur Galloping Butch
- Slimeball Slinger
- Kids Time Baby Children’s Elephant Pillow
All of these toys include potential hazards such as danger of suffocation, choking (because of small parts), inaccurate product descriptions, lack of warning labels, puncture wounds, strangulation hazard (from a string that is too long) and non-age approrpriate labeling.
Since January of last year there have been nearly 20 different toys recalled in the country because of safety defects. All of these issues are potential personal injury lawsuits. We can’t imagine anything worse than a child getting killed as the result of a “dangerous toy,” especially during this time of year.
For more information about unsafe toys, please see this circular put together by the Keenan Kids Foundation.
