H&P Law’s “A Second Chance: How My Accident Changed My Goals for the Future” Scholarship strives to provide financial support to students whose lives underwent a dramatic transformation after a severe accident. This scholarship, valued at $2,500, debuted ahead of the 2024/2025 academic year.
Students can submit their applications for the “A Second Chance: How My Accident Changed My Goals for the Future” Scholarship through H&P Law’s website. The firm requests that neither students nor their parents reach out with questions about the nature of the scholarship or the status of students’ applications.
The firm’s scholarship selection committee will reach out to applicable parties should questions arise about a student’s scholarship application.
Who is Eligible?
Undergraduate and graduate students alike can all apply for the “A Second Chance: How My Accident Changed My Goals for the Future” Scholarship so long as they meet the following criteria:
- Students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Students must submit proof of enrollment in or acceptance at a United States college, university, or graduate school
- Students must agree to the scholarship’s terms and conditions
H&P Law cannot accept scholarship applications from students who do not meet these criteria.
Application Process
Students interested in applying for the “A Second Chance: How My Accident Changed My Goals for the Future” Scholarship should complete their video essays before gathering all other application materials, including the following:
- An unofficial transcript was uploaded to H&P Law
- The URL to an unlisted YouTube video essay answering the scholarship question
- Proof of enrollment in an accredited college/university/graduate program uploaded to H&P Law
- A completed application form
Acceptable proof of enrollment includes a letter of acceptance or previous semester’s transcript.
Scholarship Video Topic
Students applying for the “A Second Chance: How My Accident Changed My Goals for the Future” Scholarship must create a 30 to 60-second video describing how a traumatic car accident influenced their lives. Students are encouraged to elaborate on the ways that their accident impacted their future professional prospects.
The firm prompts students to answer the following questions:
- What hardships did you have to face after your accident?
- How did those hardships shape you into the person you are today?
- What advice would you give your prior self?
After completing their essays, students should edit their videos and upload them to their YouTube accounts as unlisted videos. H&P Law requests that students submit a link to their unlisted video along with the rest of their application materials.
Scholarship Deadline
Students have until December 30, 2024, to submit their scholarship application materials to H&P Law’s scholarship selection committee. The team will not consider applications submitted without essential materials or after this deadline.
The team reserves up to three months to consider students’ scholarship applications. The firm will not update students on the progress of their applications until its team chooses a scholarship winner. The winning student can expect to hear from the team via email before receiving the scholarship funds.
At this time, H&P Law and its scholarship selection committee cannot answer phone calls, emails, or other forms of communication asking questions about the “A Second Chance: How My Accident Changed My Goals for the Future” Scholarship. Students and their families can refer to the scholarship’s terms and conditions for all of the information they need to apply.
Terms and Conditions
All applicants to this scholarship must meet the eligibility requirements as laid out on the scholarship application page, including:
- Applicant must be enrolled at a college, university, or graduate school
- Applicant must be at least 18 years old at the age of enrollment
- Applicant must have residency in the United States
- Applicant must be in good academic standing
- Applicant must submit some personal information, including name, contact information, and proof of enrollment.
- Applicant must author an original essay on the scholarship essay topic provided.
Anyone who meets the following conditions is NOT eligible to apply:
- Employees or children of employees of H&P Law
- Past recipients of the “A Second Chance: How My Accident Changed My Goals for the Future” Scholarship
- Applicants who are unable/unwilling to be interviewed by a representative of H&P Law if they were to be awarded a scholarship.
- Applicants who submit the same essay for multiple years in a row or for multiple scholarships
Selection & Award Notification Process
H&P Law’s scholarship selection committee will only consider applications with all applicable materials. The firm will not award the “A Second Chance: How My Accident Changed My Goals for the Future” Scholarship to a student who submits their application after the submission deadline.
Age, race, religion, gender, national origin, familial status, or other protected classes will not influence the committee’s decision.
The firm cannot answer any questions about the status of a student’s scholarship application after the submission period closes. The scholarship selection committee will only reach out to the winning student after choosing a scholarship recipient. All students can keep an eye on H&P Law’s website for information about the scholarship selection committee’s final choice.
H&P Law will reach out to its winning students by email. Afterward, the firm will announce the scholarship winner’s name and accolades via blog post and press release.
Students and their families can expect H&P Law firm to deliver the scholarship funds directly to the university of the winner’s choosing.
